The Communal Bike Program

Re-initiated in 2007, the Communal Bike Program provided students with a simple and free way to get around town.  Several new Huffy bicycles were donated by an alumnus of the College, and were kept outside the Sadler Center.  Students signed a safety waver and checked out bikes at the information desk.  The program was a success, until something terrible happened.

The bikes quickly detiorated due to normal wear-and-tear, as well as some not so normal wear-and-tear (several bikes were found in the Crim Dell, student dorms, and other random locations).  The SA ultimately restocked the program with bicycles left over from the annual Police Bike Sale, but those too broke down quickly.  Eventually the program was deemed unsustainable and was discontinued.

The program went under review again in the fall of 2008, and we're currently looking at more sustainable options.  We look forward to bringing it back better than ever before, so stay tuned for updates on the project's progress!
